Jordan’s Royal Family: Celebrating 25 Years of Reign in 2023

Next January, Abdallah will celebrate his 25 years of reign. The position of the King of Jordan, like his father King Hussein in the past, is currently very fragile in the region. The Hashemite kingdom has around 10 million inhabitants, including nearly 2 million Palestinian refugees and 2 million Syrian refugees living in camps.

2023, the great year of celebration for the royal family of Jordan

Queen Rania is particularly sensitive to the situation in Gaza. She was born in 1971 in Kuwait where her family from Tulkarem in the West Bank had settled. A few days ago, in the company of Princess Ghida, wife of a cousin of King Abdullah, the Queen of Jordan welcomed to Amman young Palestinian cancer patients cared for by the King Hussein cancer center.

Then, the queen, who is more discreet in her interventions and who removed her photo from her social networks to display a black background, released a photo of her youngest daughter Princess Salma taking part in a humanitarian intervention by the army. Aged 23, Princess Salma graduated like many members of the royal family from the Royal Military School at Sandhurst in England. A second lieutenant, she is the first female jet pilot in her country’s army. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in archeology from the University of Southern California.

Queen Rania did not hide her pride that Princess Salma was part of the fifth mission to airdrop medical equipment to the northern Gaza Strip. Crown Prince Hussein had also been mobilized to coordinate land humanitarian convoys while King Abdullah increased diplomatic contacts in Jordan and Europe.
