Jordan’s King: I am shocked and angry at the ‘heinous’ attempt to assassinate Trump

Amman – Jordan’s King Abdullah II expressed his “shock and anger” on Sunday over the attempted assassination of former US President Donald Trump, condemning the “vicious” attack and all forms of political violence.

King Abdullah wrote in a post on his official account on the “X” platform: “I feel extremely shocked and angry regarding the heinous attempt to assassinate former US President Donald Trump during a political rally.”

He added: “Jordan condemns this brutal attack and all forms of political violence.”

On Sunday morning, Trump was shot while giving a speech at an election rally in Pennsylvania, and his injury was described as minor.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump expressed his gratitude for the support he received following the assassination attempt, saying: “We will not be afraid, and instead we will remain steadfast in our faith and defiant in the face of evil.”

Trump called for national unity and strength, urging Americans to stand together and show their true character.

“At this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united, show our true character as Americans, remain strong and determined, and do not allow evil to prevail,” he added.

Following the incident, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that the person who carried out the assassination attempt was Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20 years old, while multiple sources from US law enforcement agencies stated that “the gunman is dead,” according to CNN.
