Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein and Saudi Architect Rajwa al-Saif’s Lavish Royal Wedding: A Rare Glimpse into Arab Monarchies’ Private Lives

Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdallah and Saudi architect Rajwa al-Saif got married on Thursday in the presence of many dignitaries and members of royal families from around the world. King Philip and Princess Elisabeth have both visited Jordan.

Indeed, father and daughter attended the festivities. Fireworks, air show, concerts and palpable excitement on social networks but also in the streets of the capital where their portraits were displayed. Thousands of Jordanians celebrated the nuptials of the spouses, both aged 28. Such celebrations are rare in the Arab world, where conservative monarchies share few details of their private lives.

The convoy of red vehicles of the Hashemite royal family, reserved for special occasions, crisscrossed the streets of the capital Amman to accompany the bride and groom.

King Philippe and Princess Elisabeth were not the only members of royal families. The bride and groom pronounced their vows at Zahran Palace, Amman, in the presence of their families and 140 other guests, including the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, the British princely couple William and Kate, and the King of the Countries -Bas, Willem-Alexander.

“Hussein is your son, you are his family and this is your wedding”the groom’s mother, Queen Rania, told Jordanians on May 23 in a YouTube video.
