Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Jordanian authorities announced that the person accused of killing a student of the Applied Science University, Iman Irsheed, shot himself when the security services surrounded him.
The Public Security Directorate said, in a statement, that “the girl’s killer was located, and when he was surrounded by public security men, he shot himself.”
The directorate did not provide further details about what happened during the raids, and it has not yet been confirmed whether the accused was killed.
Last Thursday, an unknown person shot a female student in front of her university headquarters (University of Applied Sciences), Thursday morning. At that time, the Public Prosecutor issued a circular at a later time not to publish the case in order to maintain the progress of the investigation.
The incident caused a state of shock in Jordan, especially as it comes after the killing of an Egyptian girl in front of Mansoura University, who was killed by a person with a knife.
