Jordan condemns the Israeli Knesset’s approval of the ban on UNRWA activities in the Palestinian territories

The ministry’s official spokesman, Sufyan Al-Qudah, said: “The approval of these laws is part of the campaign to systematically target the agency, a continuation of Israel’s frantic efforts to assassinate the agency politically, and a continuation of its aggressive war against the Palestinian people, indicating that these Israeli procedures and practices are illegal and invalid.”

He stressed that Israel’s attempts to target the agency and its symbolism, which emphasizes the right of Palestinian refugees to return and compensation in accordance with international law, are doomed to failure.

The judges stressed “the need for the international community to move immediately and urgently to confront Israel’s aggressive practices against the Palestinians, and the need to impose deterrent measures that guarantee protection for the Palestinian people, United Nations organizations and relief agencies,” warning of the disastrous consequences of the continued campaign of Israeli allegations and measures aimed at politically assassinating UNRWA and obstructing its efforts. In providing its basic services and providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in light of the humanitarian catastrophe caused by Israel in its aggressive war on the Gaza Strip, and its continuing dangerous escalation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.”

The judges stressed the importance of the mandate granted to UNRWA in accordance with its UN mandate, and the need for the international community to continue providing financial and political support to the agency, which plays an indispensable or replaceable role, and to ensure that it continues to provide vital services to Palestinian refugees in its five areas of operations.
