Jordan – Jordan and the UAE stressed, yesterday, Sunday, the need to intensify efforts to stop the aggression against Gaza and Lebanon, protect civilians, and reduce the escalation in the region.
This came during discussions between King Abdullah II and President Mohammed bin Zayed, during a visit that lasted for hours, conducted by the latter to the Kingdom, according to a statement from the Royal Court, a copy of which Anatolia received.
The statement indicated that the two leaders stressed “the necessity of intensifying Arab and international efforts to stop the war on Gaza and Lebanon, protect civilians, and reduce the escalation in the region.”
They also stressed “the two countries’ firm position towards Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and their standing with the brotherly Lebanese people.”
The discussions focused on “ways to enhance the humanitarian response to the disaster experienced by the people of the Gaza Strip.”
The King of Jordan warned of “the consequences of continued attacks by extremist settlers on Palestinians in the West Bank, and on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.”
The two sides reiterated their “full support for the Palestinian people in achieving their legitimate rights, and working to find a political horizon to achieve a just, comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.”
Since last September 23, Israel has expanded the scope of the genocide it has been committing in Gaza since October 7, 2023, to include most of Lebanon’s regions, including the capital, Beirut, through air raids of unprecedented violence and intensity. It also began a ground incursion into its south, striking its breadth. Wall international warnings and UN resolutions.
The current Israeli escalation in Lebanon, as of Saturday, resulted in the deaths of 1,204 people and the injury of 3,411, including a large number of women and children, and more than 1,200,000 displaced people, according to Anatolia’s monitoring of official Lebanese data.
With absolute American support, Israel is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, resulting in more than 139,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing persons, amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of dozens of children.
In parallel with its war on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army expanded its operations, and settlers escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in 742 deaths, about 6,200 wounded, and approximately 11,100 detainees, according to official Palestinian data.
In disdain for the international community, Israel continues its war of genocide on the Gaza Strip, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The King of Jordan and the Emirati President also signed the “Comprehensive Economic Partnership” agreement between the governments of the two countries, with the aim of “improving economic, trade and investment relations, providing job opportunities, improving supply chains, and accelerating the growth of priority sectors,” according to the same statement.
They also signed an agreement on cooperation and mutual administrative assistance in customs affairs between the governments of the two countries, according to a statement from the Royal Court.
The discussions touched on areas of bilateral cooperation in the economy, investment, sustainable development, food security, and renewable energy.
