The popular actor and singer was 108 years old, successfully appeared in countless films, operettas and theater productions and received the “Bambi” award a total of ten times. He was the recipient of the Ring of Honor of the City of Vienna as well as numerous other international awards and honorary prizes, and was also honored with the platinum “Romy” in 2001 for his life’s work. In his final years, the always elegant Heesters was considered the world’s oldest active performing artist. In total, he was on stage for around 90 years and was still entertaining his fans even at the ripe old age of 107.
