Lee Seung-gi, “Fight for juniors” in the dispute over the settlement of the ‘sound source fee’

Actor Lee Seung-gi and Joo Sang-wook became the main characters of this year’s KBS Drama Awards.

Lee Seung-gi and Joo Sang-wook jointly won the grand prize at the ‘2022 KBS Drama Awards’ held at KBS New Building in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the 31st.

Lee Seung-gi, who won the grand prize for the drama ‘Love as the Law’, attended the event with a shaved head.

He explained, “There are many people who speculate that my haircut is a change in my personal mindset, but I shaved my head because I was filming the movie ‘Big Family’ in which I played the role of a monk.”

Lee Seung-gi said, “This year was probably the most difficult year in my life. Actually, I seem to have pondered hundreds of times whether I should come to the awards ceremony today or ask for your understanding and not attend.”

He said, “As many of you know, I have a personal matter, so it bothers me to come to a festival like this and laugh like that, and sitting with an expressionless expression doesn’t seem like a duty, so I think I acted on a whim.”

“There is only one reason why I decided to attend,” he said. “Because a drama is made by a team, I thought that the efforts of the staff and actors who put their sweat, effort, and soul into this drama should not be ignored because of my personal problems. “he said.

Lee Seung-gi said, “I think the award I received this year has the meaning of praising the contributions of the staff and actors who made ‘Love as the Law’.”

Lee Seung-gi, who has been in a court battle with his former agency Hook Entertainment for not receiving a single penny of music usage fees for the past 18 years since his debut, also expressed his honest feelings in this regard.

Lee Seung-gi said, “Next year, the year following that, and for the juniors who will be sitting here 10 or 20 years later, in order to find the right to take for granted, I made a resolution that I would not pass on this kind of work that I had to fight and win,” adding, “A lot of people cheered me on. It gave me a lot of strength,” he said.

Lee Seung-gi, who debuted in 2004 with his first full-length album ‘Dream of a Moth’ and title song ‘Because You’re My Woman’, gained explosive popularity in a short period of time as soon as he debuted, causing the ‘older sister’ syndrome.

Afterwards, he took on the role of the crown prince in the drama ‘Famous Chil Princesses’ (2006) and started to make his face known as an actor, and in the variety show ‘1 Night 2 Days’ (2007), he unexpectedly received great love from viewers for his ‘gap’ appearance.

Lee Seung-gi appeared in the dramas ‘My Girlfriend is a Gumiho’ (2010), ‘The King 2 Hearts’ (2012), and ‘Vagabond’ (2019).

He hosted the variety shows ‘Strong Heart’, ‘Master in the House’, and ‘Singer Gain’.
