Accustomed to working in the shadows, Jonny Murray went viral during the last playoffs.
During a commercial break, the linesman came into contact with a Bruins employee who was carrying a trash can. The scene in question was filmed and the video was shared numerous times on social media.
If many people were laughing at the time of the incident, the Quebecer assures that he did not find the situation funny since he was injured and forced to miss several games followingwards. Met at his hockey school, he assures that he does not blame the employee responsible for the collision.

“I went to Boston to play another game following that and we chatted. They are involved in the game too and they are doing a good job. These are accidents and it’s a shame when they happen. As I tell people, it’s better that it happens to me than if it happened to Patrice Bergeron.
Even if he still has some following-effects from the contact, the linesman confirms that he will be ready to start the next season.
“I still do treatments for that. Players go through it and it’s the same on our side. I still have trouble doing certain movements, but I have no problem skating. It will not prevent me from working for the next season which is coming.
The one who will begin his 23rd year on the Bettman circuit has no intention of hanging up his skates in the near future, even if he admits having worked more seasons than he has left to work.
“I would like to do 30 years in the NHL. For me, the number of games is not necessarily important. I think I’m at almost 1500 games. I think 30 years would be a nice number since it would give me another eight years, but you never know with injuries. I go one year at a time and we will see what this year brings me.
