Jönköping and the E4 were hit hard by the storm

– The water sinks away slowly. We continue to urge motorists not to venture into traffic unless they have to. Traffic is being diverted right now, but there is no certain forecast for when traffic will flow as usual. We have regarding 200 incidents linked to the storm to deal with in the county, says Samuel Nyström, rescue manager in Jönköping municipality.

The technical office and the rescue service continue to work with floods and certain landslides in Jönköping municipality and the rest of the county. Gislaved and Habo, among others, have had a strained situation.

– Many waterways are well filled and we are now going around the municipality and creating a situational picture at the same time as we review flows in the VA systems, says Thomas Bergholm, technical director in Jönköping municipality.

Flooded garage

The municipality’s garage in Hoven in central Jönköping has been flooded with up to one meter of water and the rescue service is working to pump out the masses of water.

– It is currently unclear whether the municipality’s cars have been damaged due to the floods, but we can probably count on that, says Thomas Bergholm.

Investigate the basement

During the followingnoon and evening, the municipality has had close cooperation with the Swedish Transport Administration regarding the E4 and the flooding there. The County Administrative Board, the region and the municipality have started a joint crisis management.

Many shops and property owners have been affected by floods. The rescue service urges property owners to examine basements and other spaces that may have been affected by the floods.
