With the off-season well underway, rumors are swirling throughout the National Hockey League.
Not a day goes by without hearing a name being linked to one or more teams by different informants and insiders.
The most recent concerns the 35-year-old veteran, Jonathan Toews.
We have known for several months that the legend of the Chicago Blackhawks will not sign a new agreement with them.
We therefore know that Jonathan Toews will be an unrestricted free agent as of July 1 and that he might therefore be signed by a new team if he feels healthy enough to continue playing.
The Hawks captain has been greatly affected by COVID for the past two seasons, causing him to miss several games.
Well, we learned earlier this week that one of the teams that would be interested in Toews’ services is the Edmonton Oilers.

Indeed, this is what the journalist, Mark Spector, explained in one of his recent articles.
The Oilers would like Toews to fill the role of a fourth-line center capable of winning his share of faceoffs, something Toews has done so well throughout his career.
Obviously, the 35-year-old veteran would be a one-year signing worth around $1 million.
It would be a low-risk signing for the Oilers, which might ultimately benefit them greatly, considering Toews would be a good mentor for the organization’s young forwards like Dylan Holloway and Ryan McLeod.
Still, Toews’ serious health issues are cause for concern, and that might change the Oilers’ minds.
Ken Holland would still have taken care to put Duncan Keith, scout and advisor for the Oilers, in charge of the Jonathan Toews file to find out if he would be healthy and ready to play a season with the Oilers.
This might be a great last opportunity to win the Stanley Cup for Toews, who still has three under his belt.
However, Toews may simply want to retire to stay with his family in Chicago, even if Edmonton would bring him closer to his home of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
It is therefore a file to follow.

name that stands out for not being here is Draisaitl. Doesn’t take a lot of shots or chances himself at 5v5 compared to other stars which keeps him barely outside the top 10
