Jonathan Majors Expresses Heartbreak Over Marvel’s Decision to Replace Him with Robert Downey Jr. in Upcoming ‘Avengers’ Films

Jonathan Majors revealed that he is “heartbroken” after Marvel replaced him with Robert Downey Jr. for the next two ‘Avengers’ films.

After the star appeared as Kang the Conqueror in the Disney+ show ‘Loki’, the 34-year-old actor was set to be the next villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’, but was dropped by the studio last December after being found guilty of attacking his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

After the company parted ways with the actor, Marvel announced that ‘Iron Man’ legend Downey Jr. would return to the franchise to play Dr. Doom in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. When TMZ asked Majors if the studio’s decision to abandon his character in favor of Dr. Doom hurt him, the actor said: “Yes, I was heartbroken. Of course. Come on, yes, of course. I love him. I love Kang. But Doctor Doom is insane.” Majors was also asked if he thought it was fair that he was dropped by Hollywood while Downey Jr., who had previously been arrested for drug possession, and ‘The Flash’ star Ezra Miller, who was charged with harassment among other things in 2022, were given a second chance in the film industry.
