Since leaving Florida to join the Calgary Flames following the trade that sent Matthew Tkachuk to the Panthers, things really haven’t been going well for Jonathan Huberdeau.
The former 30-goal scorer and 115-point scorer during the 2021-2022 season has struggled to find even half of this production rate since his arrival in Calgary.
He was having a lot of success under Darryl Sutter, and we thought things would improve with the departure of the head coach, but no.
This season, Huberdeau has experienced several very difficult sequences, as evidenced by our texts on the Quebecer since the start of the season.
Huberdeau didn’t score a goal for over a month in November and December, which shows how much it hasn’t been easy for him this season.
On the other hand, for the first time this season, there is something positive to say regarding the Quebecer, while he has 21 points in his last 22 games.

Indeed, number 10 of the Calgary Flames is currently going through a good streak, as he accumulates points on a regular basis, while the Flames are fighting for the playoffs.
The timing is therefore excellent, because it is really a very hot fight for the series in the West, while five teams are fighting for the last place giving access to the series, the second Wild Card.

Huberdeau’s recent successes are clearly helping the Flames.
Even if out of his 21 points, Huberdeau only has five goals (nine in total this season), it is an encouraging sequence for the Quebecer.
In short, it’s good to see Huberdeau regain some of the strength he had in Florida.
Remember that this season he begins his eight-year contract with the Flames with an annual value of $10.5 million.
36 points (nine goals and 27 assists) in 57 games are still far too few for a guy who earns so much money per year.
