With only 33 points in 48 games this season, Jonathan Huberdeau is far from his spectacular production of 115 points last season.
In an interview with Jean-Charles Lajoie on Wednesday, the principal concerned said he was confident of being able to find the key.
“You have to keep faith. Of course it’s not easy, but I know I have the talent to come back. It’s an adjustment, but I’m going to keep working to get back to being the player I was last year and help my team make the playoffs.”
The Quebecer prefers to focus on collective success. On this subject, he still believes in the chances of seeing the Flames make the playoffs.
“It’s so tight. You just have to find a way to get a winning streak to get points and make the playoffs. After that, there will be no problem. I think we’re more of a playoff team. We play physically and our matches are often decided by a single goal. You just have to find a way to do the series. To stick three or four victories in a row, I think that would do us good.
The former Panthers also returned to the very robust duel between the Flames and Rangers on Monday.
“It was quite a game! It was very physical! It was good to watch for a fan, but it was nice to participate in it too. It was good for the guys. We see that we have a united team. The guys responded when Jacob Trouba checked.
Huberdeau also admits that the hard-hitting check by the Rangers defender at the expense of Nazem Kadri was legal, according to him.
“I think it’s a good check. Nazem is a tough guy. You never want to see a teammate like that, but I think the shoulder was in the middle of the body. He had no head contact. Kadri got up and took it well. He wasn’t frustrated. If you cut in the center once morest a guy like Trouba, it might happen.
