Last night, the Calgary Flames hosted the Los Angeles Kings. The match started well for Jonathan Huberdeau as he scored a goal giving his team a 1-0 lead.

Except that this beautiful play by the Quebec striker was marred by an error at the end of the game which cost the match to his team. In overtime, the former Panthers got a golden chance, but he committed a costly turnover that allowed the Kings to recover the puck and score the winning goal on the counterattack.

Tough OT for Huberdeau. He needs to get a little more selfish and shoot the puck. pic.twitter.com/TmUOJKporf

Looking back, Huberdeau clearly should have shot the streak and everyone let him know following the encounter.
On Twitter, actor Mark Ghanimé made a joke representing the feelings of many people in Calgary.
Can someone tell Huberdeau he’s allowed to shoot? I think he’s waiting for an email or a letter saying so.

Darryl Sutter, the team’s head coach, didn’t mince words regarding Huberdeau, noting that the other team’s leading scorer would definitely have shot the puck.

Unfortunately for the Quebecer, this is not the first time he has been criticized since his arrival in Calgary. In recent weeks, many have noted that he doesn’t shoot enough for the opposition net, when he has only done so 51 times in 30 games this season, which ranks him 264th in the NHL.
Last year, he finished 45th in shots.
After scoring 115 points last year, he has only 23 in 30 games this season. His adjustment to his new team is certainly not going as planned, but with a contract that will earn him $10.5 million annually until 2031, let’s hope he gets back up and running sooner rather than later.
