Jonathan Drouin’s Struggles in Colorado: A Look into his Disappointing Start with the Avalanche

Nothing is going well for Jonathan Drouin in Colorado.

At the start of the season, when the Quebecer was transferred to a trio with Nathan MacKinnon, we had good reason to believe he might bounce back. After all, in Montreal, he never had the opportunity to play with a guy of MacKinnon’s caliber. Injuries have not helped his stay in the metropolis, too.

A few days ago, Jo lost his place alongside his good friend and in the last few games, he was playing in the third line alongside Ross Colton and Miles Wood. A good proof of the disavowal towards the Quebecer, who has only a meager assist in five games in 2023-2024. Nothing once morest Wood and Colton, but there is a huge difference between these two players and the best player on this roster…

Last night, once morest the Carolina Hurricanes, Drouin shot twice on net in just under 12 minutes of playing time.

Among all the regulars on the Denver team, only one player had fewer points than him this season. This is Kurtis MacDermid, a defender who has never been known for his offensive game. Seven other players have as many points as the former Canadian.

But OK. At the start of the year, Drouin does not seem to have a sense of urgency. He signed a one-season contract this summer, hoping to revive his career. But if he experiences further failures, his time in the NHL might end abruptly. I don’t think he convinces many general managers at the moment.

Obviously, the season is still young and he has chances of recovering. And we wish him. But his start to the season is only a continuation of his failed stint in Montreal. Too bad for him, because the talent is there. Hard work is a little less so, though.

Is the honeymoon already over between the organization and the Quebecer? The Avalanche had high expectations for him going into the season. Perhaps the team was hoping he would rediscover his offensive flair if they combined him with one of the best players in the NHL. However, this was not the case and he quickly lost his place alongside his good friend.

So what awaits the Quebecer next year? Europe? A one-year stint (at minimum wage) with another training course? In any case, if he doesn’t want his career in North America to end, he’s going to have to start playing better.

A lot of

– Very funny.

– Statements from Tim Peel: was the Canadian at a disadvantage? [Marqueur]

– Evander Kane threw an arrow at his coach in the middle of a match.

– Michael Andlauer has not always agreed with Geoff Molson. [98,5]

– Juraj Slafkovsky is solid this season.
