Indonesian badminton men’s SINGLES, Jonatan Christie, said that his success in becoming champion at the 2024 Asian and All England Badminton Championships has prepared him to achieve achievements in important tournaments to come.

“I didn’t expect to win once more following yesterday becoming All England champion. (This) might be a booster for me personally so that in the future I can be more consistent and better in terms of performance and everything,” said Jonatan, quoted from PP PBSI’s statement. , Sunday (14/4).

Jonathan emerged as champion of the 2024 Asian Badminton Championships following defeating host representative Li Shi Feng in straight games, 21-15 and 21-16 in the final match which was held in Ningbo, China.

The badminton player, who is familiarly called Jojo, said that his victory in the top match of the Asian Badminton Championship was thanks to the playing strategy he implemented with a faster playing rhythm.

“Because I saw that Li Shi Feng was quite tired following yesterday’s match in the semifinals. It looked like his legs hurt too. I took advantage of that momentum to push him so that his game wouldn’t improve,” said Jonatan.

The 2023 French Open champion added that he was proud to be able to beat two top Chinese players on their home soil.

Jonathan admitted that the match atmosphere in front of the Chinese public was quite intense and challenging, both physically and mentally.

Jonathan revealed that he had prepared carefully before competing in the semifinals and final match today, facing the first and fifth seeds from China.

Meanwhile, previously, in the semifinal match, Jonathan won over first seed Shi Yu Qi in a tight rubber game 18-21, 21-19 and 21-12.
