Indonesian men’s singles badminton player, Jonatan Christie, gave Indonesia a 2-1 lead over India in the 2024 Thomas Cup Group C match.
Jojo, as Jonatan Christie is known, won once morest Lakshya Sen following playing three games with a score of 21-18, 16-21 and 21-17.
He said that every match once morest Sen was always difficult for him even though he won several times. Moreover, he was under pressure because Indonesia vs India drew 1-1.
“But Thank God I won and I can start quite calmly,” said Jojo in his statement.
In the third game, he continued, he was able to play the match calmly. Because, he wants to give points for Indonesia to target winning Group C.
“Being group winners is quite influential for our journey in the Thomas team, from the draw we will avoid being seeded one or two even though all my opponents know it will be tough,” said Jojo.
“Actually, it’s not regarding revenge ( once morest India), but we want to show we can do it,” he added. (Z-8)
