Jonas Vingegaard solidifies yellow leader’s jersey with solo victory on Col de la Croix de Fer in the 7th stage of Critérium du Dauphiné

The Dane Jonas Vingegaard won the 7th stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné alone at the top of the Col de la Croix de Fer and thus consolidates his yellow leader’s jersey on the eve of the arrival in Grenoble.

Untouchable, the winner of the last Tour de France attacked 5 kilometers from the finish to win alone at 2,067 meters above sea level at the end of a 148 km stage where the peloton also suffered the mountain passes Madeleine and Mollard category.

The Jumbo-Visma leader crossed the line 41 seconds ahead of Britain’s Adam Yates (UAE-Emirates) and 53 over Australian Jay Hindley (Bora-Hansgrohe).

In the general classification, Jonas Vingegaard now has a 2’11 lead over Adam Yates and 2’24 over Ben O’Connor (AG2R) before the last stage which will take the riders from Pont-De-Claix to the Bastille in Grenoble on Sunday to a final mountainous battle.
