Jonas Falk, who ten years ago was acquitted of involvement in one of Sweden’s largest drug gangs, has been detained in absentia.

Arrest proceedings were held in Södertörn district court on Tuesday morning under great secrecy.

Shortly after ten o’clock he was arrested in Spain, reports Expressen.

51-year-old Jonas Falk has been detained for attempted aggravated extortion and aiding and abetting aggravated arson, Expressen reports.

A detention hearing was held at Södertörn district court on Tuesday.

– He stays away, said the president of the court when the hearing began.

Arrested in Spain less than an hour after the arrest

Just after half past ten, it is announced that Falk is being detained in his outdoor presence.

Just under an hour later, Expressen reported that Falk has now been arrested in Spain.

The district court’s announcement was that Jonas Falk would be detained for extortion and that he is also suspected of aiding and abetting aggravated arson, which should have taken place on November 23, 2023.

Jonas Falk’s assigned defense attorney, Mats Flodén, has not been in contact with his client and therefore cannot answer how he reacts to the suspicions.

– I have had no contact whatsoever with him, says Mats Flodén.

Kuylenstierna blackmailed

The blackmail scandal concerns the former stock exchange CEO Joachim Kuylenstierna, which has been subject to an extortion claim since last autumn. Since before, several people have been detained in the tangle which, according to the arrest petition, took place between June 1, 2023 and April 24, 2024.

Jonas Falk was singled out as the ringleader in one of Sweden’s biggest drug cases of all time – “Operation Playa”. He was first sentenced to 18 years in prison in the district court but was later acquitted in the court of appeal.
