Political observer from Al-Azhar University Indonesia, Ujang Komarudin, said that President Joko Widodo still needs a political party (parpol). Even though he no longer serves as president, political vehicles are considered important for backup himself and his family.

According to Ujang, Jokowi left behind many mistakes, mistakes and sins while serving as president. Therefore, political parties can be a tool to provide security and protection in business, legal and political contexts for Jokowi.

“Whether we need a party or not, politicians need a party to be backup legal and business politics for himself and his family in the future. If he is no longer in power and does not hold anything, yes, his political opponents will definitely work on him. Because when you are in power you make a lot of mistakes too. “Many mistakes, many sins,” said Ujang to Indonesian MediaThursday (9/5).

“That’s why Jokowi made Gibran vice president, it was also a political step to make it happen backup for Jokowi and his family,” added Ujang.

Just like other former presidents, Megawati Soekarnoputri and Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) also still control the party.

“Even though all this time he (Jokowi) was in the PDIP, even though in the end he was not recognized. Then he made Kaesang Ketum PSI, that was (a sign) he needed a party. Let that party come later backup himself forward. Just look, Megawati also still holds the party, SBY still controls the Democratic party, chairman of the upper house. “They still need to seek strength and protection in the context of business and law,” he said.

So far, there are two political parties that have openly said they will accept President Jokowi, namely the Golongan Karya Party (Golkar) and the National Mandate Party (PAN). However, Jokowi has not yet decided which party he will join.

“Golkar is open to Jokowi, if you become a member, you are open, the Golkar party is an inclusive party, always open to Jokowi and Gibran. As a member. “It is an honor for Golkar if Jokowi is included as a member,” said Ujang.

“It is mutually beneficial for Golkar and Jokowi. PAN also opened up to Jokowi. “Which party will we go to, let’s just wait because that’s Jokowi who knows,” he concluded. (Dis/P-5)
