PRESIDENT Joko Widodo was asked not to take care of the next government’s homework under the leadership of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. This was conveyed by senior researcher at the Center for Political Research of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Firman Noor in response to Jokowi’s statement in a limited meeting regarding the 2025 RAPBN.
In a meeting held on Monday (5/8) morning, the President emphasized that the 2025 Draft State Budget must accommodate all of Prabowo-Gibran’s programs as president and vice president elected in the 2024 presidential election.
For Firman, efforts to smooth the transition period from one government to the next do not need to be demonstrated in the ways Jokowi is currently doing. He emphasized that the people only voted until 2024.
“(President Jokowi) does not need to comment on what to do for the next government. Just let the next government handle all matters,” Firman told Media Indonesia, Monday (5/8).
According to him, Jokowi’s statement in front of the ministers during the limited meeting showed that the President was not yet fluent in understanding the democratic transfer of power. Firman asked President Jokowi to understand that his term of office will end this year.
On the other hand, Jokowi must also respect the people’s choice in the 2024 presidential election who chose Prabowo-Gibran. He emphasized that Prabowo-Gibran need to complete their own work programs.

“It must be appreciated that the people chose Prabowo-Gibran, and I think Prabowo is not a president who will be easy to control later,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Firman said that Jokowi’s attitude in ordering his subordinates to accommodate Prabowo-Gibran’s program in the 2025 RAPBN was predictable. Because, since the nomination of the president-vice president for the 2024 Presidential Election, the President has stated that he is involved.
