PRESIDENT Joko Widodo (Jokowi) opened the 21st National Sports Week (PON) at the Harapan Bangsa Stadium, Banda Aceh, Monday (9/9) evening.
“Sports greetings. Tonight we are all happy, excited to welcome the biggest sporting event in the country of Indonesia. Tonight I also want to convey teurimong gaseh to the local government and all the people of Aceh who are hosting the opening of the 21st PON Aceh-North Sumatra,” said Jokowi, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat YouTube, Monday (9/9).
Jokowi said that PON is an event to produce many of the best athletes, produce more world record breakers, produce more potential gold medal winners at the Asian Games, the SEA Games and even at the Olympics.
But no less important, this PON is an event to further strengthen unity, further strengthen brotherhood as a nation.
“Therefore, I really entrust you to uphold sportsmanship and fair play. Let us all celebrate this National Sports Week with the spirit of togetherness, with the spirit of sportsmanship and joy to measure achievements that make the country proud,” said Jokowi. (Try)
