THE FILM presented by the production house Come and See Pictures from director Joko Anwar and producer Tia Hasibuan, Siksa Kubur, will warm Indonesian families in cinemas starting April 11 2024 in the atmosphere of Eid with the family.
“By showing the film Siksa Kubur during Eid, hopefully it can provide food for thought for all of us. And this film is actually intended to spark discussion,” said Joko Anwar at the premiere of his film with media crew in Jakarta, Wednesday (3/4).
Jokan, as Joko Anwar is known, said that the film Siksa Kubur invites viewers to reset their skeptical understanding of the consequences of a sinful act.
“Let’s ask ourselves, are we really religious and believe in God if we still normalize sin? Siksa Kubur is trying to remind us,” added Jokan.

Through a storytelling concept that is not patronizing, Siksa Kubur offers universal values that can be enjoyed by all groups.
The hope is that following watching the film a discussion will occur between people who are usually nice to chat with on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, actor Reza Rahadian, who plays Adil, one of the characters in this film, said he mightn’t comment much because he hadn’t watched it.

However, according to Reza, the film talks regarding the loss of a very meaningful family member. So when you watch it with your family during Eid, hopefully it can be a reflective moment not only individually, but together.
“So this is a collective reflection for the family, such as what we have done for our parents, siblings, and what we have done so far,” said Reza.

Since then, Sita has become obsessive regarding searching for evidence of religious truth. One of the things he did to prove this was to record the incident of the Grave Torture in the grave of the most sinful person and when that person died, he went into that person’s grave.
However, of course there are dire consequences for those who do not believe in Siksa Kubur.
The film Siksa Kubur will feature Faradina Mufti acting as Sita. Plus the ranks of well-known actors and actresses such as Slamet Rahardjo (playing the role of Wahyu Sutama), Christine Hakim (Lani), Arswendy Bening Swara (Pandi), Jajang C Noer (Ningsih), Putri Ayudya (Umayah), Djenar Maesa Ayu (Inayah), Widuri Putri (little Sita) and Muzakki Ramdhan (little Adil).
