While the DC Comics Cinematic Universe is in the midst of transition and reshaping, some films are staying away from these upheavals. This is the case of the excellent The Batman by Matt Reeves, and the sequel to Joker with Joaquin Phoenix, released in 2019. Titled Joker: madness for twothe film has just announced the end of its shooting with two new shots.
A musical with Harley Queen
Already at the helm of the first opus, director Todd Philipps (Very Bad Trip, Deadline) announced via his Instagram account the end of the filming of this sequel, with a declaration of love to its duo of main actors, Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, as well as to the whole team: “It’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew the film industry has to offer. Top to bottom. I’m now crawling in a cave ( editing room) and put everything together”.

A global hit when it was released four years ago, with 1.074 billion dollars collected worldwide for a budget of 55 million, it was obvious that the film Joker mightn’t stop there. Philipps thus decided to shake up all expectations, and announced that this sequel would be a musical. A disconcerting and antithetical approach to the first opus, which drew its inspiration from the very 70’s tone of the Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese, which at least has the advantage of tickling our curiosity.
Joker: madness for two (in French in the text) will see the meeting of the illustrious nemesis of Batman with Harley Quinn, interpreted by Lady Gaga. The famous singer has starred in several films and series such as A Star is Born (for which she received the Oscar for best song), House of Gucci Ridley Scott, Sin City 2 by Robert Rodriguez or encore American Horror Story. As a reminder, the character of Harley Quinn was previously interpreted by Margot Robbie in the films Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey (2020) et The Suicide Squad (2021).
The output of Joker: madness for two in French theaters is scheduled for October 2, 2024.
