Hebtan Umar Baloch, official of Quetta-based Balochi Academy and coordinator of Natural Language Processing (NLP) project, is working in this regard.

He told Independent Urdu that with the help of this application, words and sentences of one language can be translated into any other language included in Google and it will help bring Balochi closer to other languages ​​as well.

Hebtan said that he is currently working on an online database dictionary containing thousands of words, which will help students of Balochi literature.

He added that it is currently in its early stages and there is room for further improvement.

According to Hebtan, currently Balochi Academy, Balochistan Academy, Izzat Academy and Naseer Kabdani Academy and others are working to transfer the Balochi language to the digital world.

Balochi Academy was established in 1961 and till now this institution has not only preserved Balochi literature in book form but also published hundreds of books on the topics of Balochi poetry, history and culture, which are taught as curriculum in different educational institutions of Balochistan. are going

The academy has started work on Balochi Natural Language Processing i.e. NLP, a regular project to adapt Balochi language to modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Chat GPT and Robotics.

Apart from Balochi Academy, Balochi people living in different corners of the world are playing their role to digitize Balochi language and this includes Muhammad Jahangir who works in Google company, who has contributed to Google translate Balochi language. Played an important role.

Abdullah Dashti, involved in the Google translation process, told Independent Urdu that he had worked with Google regarding the translation. Initially, Google started the process in 2021, but in March 2023, Google contacted him and asked him to work for them.

According to Abdullah: ‘Google had shared a contributory link regarding the translation, through which anyone who could read and write Balochi and English volunteered to contribute.’

He further said that with this, those who know Balochi language can easily translate it into more than 200 languages ​​of the world.

Balochi language is spoken in Balochistan, Punjab and Sindh in Pakistan. Apart from this, Balochi speakers are also living in Iran, Afghanistan, Arab countries, Turkmenistan, Russia and other regions of the world.

Balochi language has not yet become the official language of any country. Thus, the Balochi language is said to be about three to five thousand years old, but the written traces of this language are found in the eighteenth century, when the British started writing Balochi literature in English or Roman script, but now Balochi is Persian or Arabic. It is written in script and most of the capital of Balochi literature is being preserved in this script.
