PKS responded to the possibility of joining the new government or choosing to return to the opposition and be outside the government.
PKS DPP Chairman Mardani Ali Sera said that his party was still discussing all these possibilities within the party.
“This matter (joining the government or outside) will be discussed,” said Mardani to Media Indonesia, Thursday (25/4).
However, privately he suggested remaining in the opposition ranks.
“But I personally suggest outside the government (opposition),” he said.
Mardani explained the reasons why PKS needs to consistently be in the opposition ranks.

“Why? Because our presidential election program and campaign are different from 02. The basis for thinking and assumptions are also different. And most importantly, there needs to be government control. Power tends to corrupt,” he explained.
Previously, the General Chair of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, gave input regarding the political direction of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) following the results of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) were decided.
Surya Paloh advised PKS to think carefully regarding political direction, both inside and outside government.

“I say try to think carefully regarding what is best for this country. Inside or outside government,” said Surya Paloh at NasDem Tower, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, April 24 2024.
Surya Paloh added that he understands the differences in views of each party that is part of the Change Coalition. However, in terms of nation building, each party always tries to find common ground, aka equality.
“We understand that not everything is the same, but we are not looking for differences but similarities,” he said.
One of the similarities, said Surya Paloh, is being ready to take on any role. Both inside and outside government.
“There are similarities, we are ready for both (coalition or opposition),” he explained. (Ykb/Z-7)
