NDSU Extension Set to Welcome Lamb and Wool Enthusiasts in Fargo, N.D.

FARGO, N.D. — The North Dakota Lamb and Wool Producers Association, alongside the Minnesota Lamb and Wool Producers, is excited to host the 2024 Joint Annual Convention on December 6-7 in Fargo, North Dakota.

The event begins at 1 p.m. with guided tours of the NDSU Sheep Unit and the NDSU Peltier Complex, showcasing the latest in sheep breeding and wool production. Following the tours, the convention will continue at the comfortable Ramada Inn in Fargo.

On Friday evening, attendees can anticipate a lively social gathering capped off with an exciting auction. Guests will also enjoy an exquisite American Lamb tasting, expertly crafted by the chef of Ramada Inn.

Saturday’s agenda is packed with informative sessions, kicking off with a panel discussion on precision livestock technologies, led by esteemed NDSU experts including Rachel Gibbs, Miranda Meehan, and Rex Sun. They will delve into innovative applications that benefit producers, such as virtual fencing, sheep feed intake monitoring, and the use of thermal imaging for improved sheep care.

The Saturday morning segment will feature ND Make It With Wool, an opportunity for wool enthusiasts to engage in creating homemade wool accessories while exploring new innovations in fiber arts and product development.

The awards luncheon will celebrate outstanding contributors to the industry, with delicious loin chops provided by Superior Farms adding a touch of culinary delight.

In the afternoon, the convention will pivot to a focus on the American Sheep Industry Association and the American Lamb Board, including an interactive “ram session” that encourages open discussions about the challenges faced by producers within the industry.
