British Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised yesterday, during a surprise visit to kyiv, to send armored vehicles and anti-ship missiles to Ukraine, a day after the bombing that left at least 52 dead at a Kramatorsk train station.

After a meeting with the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, Johnson promised 120 armored vehicles and new missile systems against ships and described as “the greatest feat of the 21st century” the resistance against the invasion ordered more than six weeks ago by the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.

“Thanks to the determined leadership of President Zelensky and the invincible heroism and courage of the Ukrainian people, Putin’s monstrous plans have been foiled,” Johnson was quoted as saying by his Downing Street services.

Johnson is the first head of state or government of the G7 advanced powers to visit Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion on February 24.

In a video published by the press service of the Ukrainian presidency, the two heads of state, who do not wear visible protections, can be seen walking through the streets of kyiv, where the country’s presidential administration is located.
