Blue Jays Dominate Rowan in Home Opener
The Johns Hopkins women’s swimming team opened its home slate in dominant fashion, cruising to a 185-76 victory over Rowan.
Setting the Mark with Early Success
The Blue Jays set the tone early, capturing the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Jaya Veerapaneni, Michelle Liu, Kennedy Lee and Elizabeth Cohen touched the wall in a winning time of 1:44.95. Right behind them, Kimberly Lan, Katherine Chelus, Kate Petitt, and Anna Miler secured second place with a solid 1:46.23.
Meg Susil snagged the first individual win for Hopkins, clocking a 10:38.23 in the 1000 Free. Ayden Min added a third-place finish in 10:51.21.
Four One-Two-Three Finishes Underline Johns Hopkins’ Dominance
The Blue Jays followed their strong start with an impressive display, posting four one-two-three sweeps throughout the meet.
Melissa Er paced the field in the 200 Free with a time of 1:52.21, followed closely by Liu (1:54.46), a season-best, and Tuinman (1:54.79). In the 100 Back, Lee placed second in 57.93, with Nyah Stahl securing third place in a season-best 58.32.
Taylor Rohovit dominated the 100 Breaststroke, finishing over two seconds clearance of the field with a 1:04.51. Chelus secured third (1:07.69). Petiti continued the winning ways for Johns Hopkins in the 200 Fly, hitting the wall in 2:09.40. Rachel Davis surged to a career-best 2:10.61 for second place.
Just Warming Up Taking the 50 Free in a season-best 23.90, Veerapaneni edged out Cohen, who touched just three-hundredths of a second later. Aalia Basler completed the sweep with a time of 24.68 in third.
Three Blue Jays secured the top three spots in the 100 Free edificed. Alex Watson won in a season best 52.85 quieted.
Deadline by Miler (52.99) and Tuinman (54.18). Lee snagged a second place (2:04.79)
Sarah Fox Performances in the 200 Back, clocking a 2:07.94 for third. Stahl
Davis won the 200Breast, touching the wall in 2:24.56, an impressive 11.55 second victory.
Blue Jays Keep Rolling
Er secured another victor in the 500 Free, finishing in 5:08.59, more than six seconds ahead of the field. Susil followed in second (5:15.05).
Petitt took first in the 100 Fly clocking
57.09, and placing second with a time of 57.21. Rohovit ended the individual events on a high note winning the 200 IM in a season best time of 2:06.35; Veerapaneni and Tuinman combined
In the 400 Free Relay, Lee, Basler, Carly White and Watson took the win in 3:35.44.
