A project for a new film starring the actor called “Jeanne Du Barry” will go to the 2022 Cannes Film Festival to find an investor. The news is reported by the publication Deadlinenoting that this will be the actor’s first feature film in three years.
The planned film is a French historical drama regarding Jeanne Becou, a woman born into poverty but rising through the ranks at the court of King Louis XV the Beloved to become his mistress. Depp is to play the actual king, while French actress Maiwenn Le Besco will play one of the roles and direct the film. Also in the cast announced Pierre Richard.
The publication notes that Johnny has not starred in a feature film since 2019, when he worked on “Minamata“.
