Hollywood star Johnny Depp surprised fans of a concert in London, as he unexpectedly took to the stage, while awaiting the verdict in his “defamation” case once morest his ex-wife, Amber Heard. The American actor appeared with British guitarist Jeff Beck at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
This is the second appearance of the two men following playing together at “Sheffield-on-Sunday”.
He is expected to appeal the “defamation” case to court on Tuesday.
Depp, 58, had filed a lawsuit once morest his ex-wife, demanding $50 million in compensation for an article she published, in which she said she had been subjected to spousal abuse, without touching him. Heard, in turn, filed a counter-suit once morest Depp, demanding $100 million in damages.
A seven-member jury must reach a unanimous verdict, and they begin their deliberations following both parties have given their final statements.
Depp and Jeff, accompanied by Jeff Beck, played John Lennon’s song “Isolation”, which they jointly performed in 2020.
The performance elicited mixed reactions from the audience.
Angela Flannery of the South End said Depp’s performance was outstanding. “I will die happy. I was with him in the same room,” she added.
But Peter Schmidt, who came to London from Frankfurt specifically to watch the show, said he felt cheated, and described Depp’s performance as embarrassing.
“I’ve been waiting for 50 years to see Jeff Beck in person, but the show was the disappointment of my life.”
It is expected that Depp will participate in a party in London on Tuesday, but the verdict in his case may be issued at any moment.
Depp’s lawyer appealed to the jurors Friday to “hold Amber responsible for her lies,” as she put it.
On the other hand, Heard’s team described her ex-husband, Depp, as “a violator, a thug, and he is not worthy of trust.”
Heard’s lawyer, Benjamin Rothenborn, reminded jurors of letters Depp sent to his friends in which he said he wanted to cause harm to his ex-wife. He said this revealed the truth regarding Depp.
Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, described the allegations of Depp’s abuse as “fantasy and unbelievable.”
Friday’s deliberations reflected much of the past weeks of the trial, as both sides portrayed the relationship as five years of battle.
The trial, which was broadcast live, aroused great public interest, with the actors accused of serious emotional and physical abuse.
