John Wall’s Private Workout Draws Interest from Celtics and Blazers: The Search for a New Team

John Wall is unemployed and had decided to organize a private workout yesterday to find a job. Present in the room in Las Vegas were representatives from many franchises, including the Celtics and Blazers. Two franchises which would offer him a different role for next season but which might greatly interest Jean Mur.

Frankly, we really want to imagine the playlist playing in the Vegas gym where John Wall was doing his workout. Alone in the world by Corneille, Lonely by Akon, I walk alone by Jean-Jacques Goldman… A good old set to remind the teams present that he still does not have a team for next season. But it looks like the former Clippers still has it under his feet, so much so that the Celtics and Blazers have been cited as potentially interested franchises.

Veteran point guard John Wall held a private workout on Sunday with multiple teams — including the Boston Celtics and Portland Trailblazers — in attendance. The five-time All-Star is ramping up efforts in hopes of a return to the NBA.

Portland will change course next season, Damian Lillard will no longer be there, but Scoot Henderson arrives to take over…except the third pick of the 2023 Draft might use a mentor. Guide for a season, or even more if affinities, one of the best talents of the vintage this year would be a good recovery plan for John Wall. Knowing that this role might be embellished with good minutes of play off the bench or alongside Scoot.

For the Celtics, the 2023-24 plan is clear, clean and more than precise: it plays the title in Boston. Knowing that Marcus Smart left and Malcolm Brodgon stayed because of health issues, there is more than one place to take in the C’s squad. For that, the Massachusetts franchise is on the Damian Lillard case, but that lead seems pretty unreal. The news therefore seems to be that of John Wall, who might well take good minutes behind Derrick White.

For John Wall, that makes two interesting recovery plans. But that’s basically two shots for a player who needs to play basketball next year following too many injury-ridden seasons.
