“John” leaves several dead and more injured

CHILPANCINGO.— The natural phenomenon “John” that caused five days of uninterrupted rains in a large part of Guerrero, left several heavy damages in the territory, the most serious, six people dead in different points when they were crushed by broken hills.

In Acapulco, which is still suffering from Hurricane “Otis”, the floods and high waves turned its inhabitants into victims again, publishes the Proceso portal.

The rains in Guerrero began last Monday and did not stop until Friday evening. “John” during this period had jumps between hurricane and tropical storm.

The officially reported death victims are six: two in Tlacoachistlahuaca, two in Malinaltepec, one in Acapulco and one in Iliatenco. Two of these are minors, one is 10 and the other is four years old.

This Saturday, even though it dawned without rain in some affected points, such as Acapulco and Chilpancingo, the Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection Guerrero warns that it will continue, and that “an area of ​​instability in the Pacific Ocean remains under surveillance and monitoring.” , which could give rise to a new tropical cyclone.”

The first affected were the inhabitants of Costa Chica, because “John”, in its hurricane version, hit on Monday night.

The restaurateurs who had their palapas on the beaches, for example, of Copala, one of the most touristy areas in the region, were left without assets.

As the days passed, “John” covered other points in Guerrero, such as Acapulco and Costa Grande, where there was a risk of greater damage. At the same time, the storm hit hard in the Central area; Chilpancingo and its Sierra, among the most affected, highlights Proceso.

In the case of Acapulco, different points began to flood, because with the rains the levels of the ravines, streams and rivers grew, and with it their flows.

24 dead from Hurricane “John”

The number of deaths from “John” in Oaxaca increased yesterday to five, thus adding at least 24 deaths due to the effects of the cyclone in the country, including 18 in Guerrero, and one more in Michoacán.

In Oaxaca, the location of two bodies was confirmed, an elderly adult and a child, in the municipality of Coicoyán de Las Flores, who were buried in their home by a collapsing hill.

With these deaths there are 5 deaths due to “John” in Oaxaca, after three cases were reported on Thursday.

In Michoacán, the death of a four-year-old child who fell into the Río Grande in Morelia was reported.

In Guerrero, five other people were found dead in Acapulco.
