John Cena officially announces his retirement from wrestling (+Video)

WWE icon John Cena announced his official retirement from wrestling tonight during the ‘Money in the Bank‘, in Toronto, Canada.

Through its account on X, formerly Twitter, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) released the video where Cena announces his retirement. During the event of ‘Money in the Bank’ which takes place this Saturday in Toronto.

In the video, Cena begins his speech by announcing his retirement from WWE. This is what the man who was the face of WWE for almost 20 years said:

Why am I here? Tonight I officially announce my retirement from WWE“, said the fighter. Who following waiting for the reaction of those present continued: “I hear different opinions, many questions, right? “Why here?”.

To these concerns, Cena responded that he does not want to talk regarding that, that he wants to talk regarding the Canadians.You see, I’ve been doing this for a long time, I’ve been in WWE for two decades, and in that time the Canadians have always been there.“.

He added that to respond to the “Because right now?“He said it is because it is regarding the ‘Money in the Bank‘, where it is the night of opportunity to announce his retirement. He also indicated that his last fight will be at WrestleMania 41, which will take place in Las Vegas, USA, in April 2025.

Additionally, he highlighted that he will be in the first WWE RAW on Netflix in January 2025. Cena highlights that no other wrestler has been in this Netflix project and he will be the first to do so.

At the end of his announcement, he thanked his audience, fans and Canadians, for “allow him“fighting on that stage for so many years, for”his voice, which is very loud“and for allowing him to be there tonight to officially announce his retirement.

Amidst Cena’s words, the audience chants “Thanks John Cena” (“thank you, John Cena” in English).
