John Cena’s appearance at the 2024 Oscars caused a stir.
The cast of “The Suicide Squad” appeared to be completely naked while presenting the award for best costume design. Even though he wasn’t wearing much, Cena, 46, took some precautions to avoid a dramatic wardrobe mishap.
A behind-the-scenes photo shows Cena standing in the Oscars aisle wearing only a modesty pouch to cover his private parts. The pouch is actually like underwear that covers Cena’s front and back.
So, even though it looks like a professional wrestler might show off anything at any time, Oscar’s costume team made sure that wasn’t the case.
Cena took to the stage with nothing but a large winning envelope to cover his bottom area… and a pair of Birkenstock sandals. It’s all an homage to one dramatic Oscar moment from the past.
“At the 46th Academy Awards, 1974, David Niven was introducing Elizabeth Taylor when a naked man — a streaker — ran across the stage,” said host Jimmy Kimmel while introducing Cena.

“Can you imagine if a naked man ran across the stage today?”
Well… Cena fits that description, even though he’s not trying to be Hollywood’s next streaker. They joked that Cena should have had a streak when Kimmel offered a “what if”, but he hesitated at the last second.
“Honestly, you should be embarrassed right now for suggesting such an uncivil idea,” Cena jokingly told Kimmel, adding,

“Men’s bodies are no joke.”
Cena then reported to center stage with a large carrier envelope to announce the award — which went to “Poor Things” — although he mightn’t lift the envelope to hand out his nominations.
“The costume… is very important. Probably the most important thing there is,” Cena said — referring to his lack of nudity.
“I can’t open the envelope.” Kimmel offered to help and announced the nominations so Cena might remain completely covered.
When the nominations montage ended, Cena was dressed in a simple toga, which looked like it was made from Oscar stage curtains and tassels. (People/Z-3)
