Although all eyes were on Brad Pitt and his elegant linen skirt this week, actress Joey King has starred in some stellar fashion moments during the press tour of the movie bullet train
The distribution of The new movie (directed by David Leitch and centered on five murderers who meet on a high-speed train) is currently on a premiere tour throughout Europe, and Joey King has become one of the best dressed (along with Pitt).
And we have never seen her with traditional or boring dresses. This is because she continues to work hand in hand with her longtime stylist, Jared Eng, who has bet on most avant-garde lookswhich are both daring and totally eye-catching: ‘She’s always taken risks and that’s always been a force to be reckoned with,’ says Eng, who knows the star since I was 13 years old. ‘When I show her clothes for fitting sessions, I usually know what she’ll be comfortable in, what she’ll never wear, and which way I can gently nudge her.’
Though Hollywood was set on Joey King when he played Gypsy Rose Blanchard on hulu series The Actor when wore a top and maxi skirt in the first of The Princess; went with Bullet train that the star was embarking on a big movie tour, so both she and Eng wanted to do everything they might to stand out: ‘Even though Joey has been in this business since he was four years old, this was his first international press tourand an amazing and exciting time for her,’ says Eng.
‘It can be intimidating to be on a red carpet with Hollywood heavyweights as Brad Pitt y Aaron Taylor-Johnson, so I wanted Joey to be able to keep up. To reflect his great personality, she wanted to achieve red carpet looks very strong, forceful and daring,’ says Eng. ‘We avoided the typical Hollywood glitz and glamor opting for excessively feminine looks, sparkly jewelery and dainty shoes’.
The aim was to ‘inject life into the vegan leather suitsmen’s shirts and ties, high end jewelry and platform shoes,’ says Eng. And the duo has been successful. For example, at the screening of the movie last night in LondonKing wore a blue Marc Jacobs bodysuit and a floor-length printed skirt, finished off with leather gloves and her hair slicked back.
That same day, in a photo callwore a black minidress by Nensi Dojaka in a triangle bra, finished off with sheer stockings and platform boots (very Gen Z). A few days before, in Berlin, she also wore completely black looks that were anything but boring: Between them, a wide-leg jumpsuit by Balenciaga and a satin, button-down dress by Paco Rabanne. It’s hard to make an almost all-black tour wardrobe memorable, but these ensembles have been impactful.
Last week in Paris Joey King He played with more refined, but forceful garments. She carried a transparent dress by Thom Browne in a strapless corset with a pleated skirt over the top. Her vegan leather Material outfit, with a Didu strappy bra underneath, was the perfect combination of sexy and classic.
Eng says that King has opened up to experiment, under a refreshing approach that they should take more Hollywood stars. Fashion should be fun, and Eng agrees: ‘She’s learning more and more how to look visually interesting, yet tasteful, balancing femininity and masculinity into a look, as well as making the hair and makeup tie it all together,’ says Eng. ‘This press tour has given Joey the opportunity to show people that she can be a real chameleon, and that is capable of carrying more than the typical pretty dress, pretty hair and pretty makeup always’.
