In bookstores on March 10, “The Alaska Sanders Affair” is announced as the sequel to his bestseller “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair”.
Joël Dicker is back with a new thriller, the first published by his publishing house Rosie & Wolfe. Entitled The Alaska Sanders Affair, this novel is presented as the sequel to The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair. The story will more precisely make the link between The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair and The Book of Baltimore, his previous work. Here is the pitch:
“April 1999. Mount Pleasant, a peaceful little town in New Hampshire, is devastated by a murder. The body of Alaska Sanders, who recently arrived in the city, is found by a lake. The investigation is quickly closed. , then closed, even if its conclusion is marked by a new tragic episode. But eleven years later, the case rebounds. In early 2010, Sergeant Perry Gahalowood, of the New Hampshire State Police, persuaded to have elucidated crime at the time, receives an anonymous letter that disturbs him. The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair, go lend him a hand to find out the truth. The ghosts of the past will resurface, and among them that of Harry Quebert. “
A new adventure
As with his previous works, Joël Dicker used for the cover of The Alaska Sanders Affair a work by the American painter Edward Hopper, entitled Gas. He had chosen the painting Portrait of Orleans for The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair.
Joël Dicker announced last October by surprise that he was leaving his publishing house, Editions de Fallois, to launch his own. A decision “difficult to make”, he had told on BFMTV: “You know how much I am attached to this house and all the history which binds me to it. But I had the impression for a few years and the disappearance of Bernard (de Fallois, his editor who died in 2018, Editor’s note), that I was going to have to take another path. “
“I feel like this change, this new home, is an important step for me, and I feel like I’m taking my readers with me. It’s an adventure that is also theirs. “, he added.
The Alaska Sanders Affair, in bookstores on March 10, is the first movement of this new adventure.
