Before the start of the season, the Canadian placed Joel Armia on waivers. It was a little surprise in the sense that his contract (two more seasons at $3.4 million per year) and his veteran status offered him some protection, but in the end, he was not the most deserving.
And with the CH wanting to establish a meritocracy, sending Armia to the AHL was a strong message for the culture.
That said, one might wonder what kind of attitude the attacker would have within the Habs’ school club. We know that some veterans sulk when they are sent downand it was legitimate to fear such a reaction from the Finn.
Especially with what Karl Alzner “advised” him by saying that sometimes, sulking is the best way to force the club to get rid of you.
However, until now, it seems to be quite the opposite that is happening. According to what Nicolas Cloutier (TVA Sports) reportsthe members of the Rocket are quite unanimous as to the fact that the veteran arrived within the school club with an impeccable attitude.
The season is only one game old, but so far, Joel Armia has shown an exemplary attitude in Laval.
Armia might have a significant impact on the development of Sean Farrell, who admired the veteran following Friday’s game.

Jean-François Houle is one of those who loves what the Finn offers his club, both on and off the ice. He doesn’t hesitate to get involved on the ice and chat with the young people to try to help them.
Clearly, he seems to have gotten the message, and it’s nice to see that.
Sean Farrell, who played on the same line as Armia yesterday, also had good words for #40. He really likes being around him and he feels that he is in a good position to develop alongside him.
Even Logan Mailloux took the time to highlight what Armia can bring to a team, saying he was going to help the club win a lot of games this year.
Let’s give credit to the Finn: he was able to rise from a difficult situation to take on a mentoring role within the CH school club. We don’t know if it will last over time in the event that he spends months and months in Laval, but he was a popular guy in the locker room in Montreal (Cole Caufield really seems to like him) and he also seems to be the case in Laval.
We will therefore see if Armia can continue this throughout the year, but if he assumes a mentoring role throughout the year, he will have a positive impact within the organization. And maybe in the end, it will allow him to gain points for a possible recall…

And speaking of the third line.
On Sean Monahan, Tanner Pearson and Brendan Gallagher, the Canadiens’ fatherly line that shares a common thread of wanting to leave the past behind them:
