He then appeared to anger the Brazilian president by leaving the stage without shaking his hand.

The scene came as President Biden took the stage. Hitting the flag, he then appeared disoriented, taking a moment to compose himself.

He then struggled with the headset of his translation device, which was quickly noticed by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, reports the New York Post.

“Can you hear me, Mr. President Biden? This is a historic moment for Brazil and for the United States,” asked the Brazilian leader.

When President Biden did not respond immediately, Lula reiterated his request: “President Biden, can you hear me?”

Mr Lula da Silva turned to the US president, who nodded in response, but then continued to fumble with his headset throughout his counterpart’s speech.

At one point, Mr. Biden lost hope of getting his headset to work properly. He was seen giving up on fixing his translation machine, then raising his eyebrows in frustration.

At the end of the Brazilian president’s speech, Mr. Biden shook hands with International Labor Organization Director-General Gilbert Huongbo, but turned away when Mr. Lula extended his hand.

As he left, Mr. Lula da Silva seemed visibly irritated and waved his hand.
