JOAN Mir has extended his contract with the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC/Repsol Honda) factory team for two seasons until 2026.

“I am very happy to be able to compete with Honda and HRC for the next two years. It was my goal to continue this partnership and this time I was able to achieve it,” said Mir, quoted from HRC’s official statement, Friday (26/7).

Mir made his debut as a rider in the Moto3 class in 2016, winning 10 races and taking his first world title the following year.

He was then promoted to the Moto2 class in 2018 and stepped up to the premier class, MotoGP, in 2019 before being crowned world champion in 2020.

Since 2023, he has competed in the MotoGP class with the Repsol Honda Team and has achieved a total of 12 Grand Prix wins and 33 podiums.

“HRC and I have been partners since 2023 and I am sure that by continuing to give back to HRC, I can contribute to improving the performance of the RC213V,” said Mir.

“I know what I need to do and I know what Honda can achieve. We will continue to work hard for the future in the rest of the season,” he added.

HRC President Koji Watanabe continued, although the team has had a difficult season recently, the trust of the riders is the most important thing to be able to move forward together.

“Even in these circumstances, Mir still believes in the team and we are very grateful for his never-give-up attitude and fighting every moment,” Watanabe said.

For the 2025 season, Joan Mir and Luca Marini will continue to compete together. In addition, Stefan Bradl and Aleix Espargaro will join as test riders to support engine development.

“We look forward to working with all stakeholders to return and do our best to meet the expectations of our fans as soon as possible. Once again, thank you to all
fans who always support us,” concluded Watanabe. (Ant/Z-1)
