Joakim Lundell opens up about the tough childhood in Renées Brygga

Got anxiety at the thought of getting to the pier

Thomas Ravelli brings a soccer game to the pier for Renée and the other guests, Nikki Amini and Joakim Lundell. Nikki treats the gang to Persian treats while Joakim shares his tough childhood. As usual, Renée manages to give the guests appropriate information during their conversation that makes them open up even more.

Renée Nyberg and the dog Charlie gets three new guests on the bridge in the form of the former footballer Thomas Ravellia former juror from Idol, Nikki Amini and the youtuber Joakim “Jocke” Lundell. Thomas’ reputation as a good guy quickly proves to be true when he arrives on the boat with an inflatable football game and a sack full of footballs.

However, the game is so big that it has to take its own boat to the dock. But you don’t have to be an old man to bring surprises – as Nikki showed when she offered a whole tray full of Persian fika bread once they arrived at the jetty.

Social anxiety and downplaying yourself in front of the camera

When they sit and try on everything Nikki had with him begins Jock to open up. He says that, despite his profession, he does not feel comfortable with social interactions, and that he even had the anxiety of death just thinking about coming to the dock. Thomas tells us that even he can get tired of social situations, but when he gets in front of a camera, something is put on that gives him energy.

Renée points out that like Thomas, Nikki is also very outgoing. When asked if they have ever been asked to tone it down, Nikki replies that it has happened several times, even during working life. She has been told by managers that she should tone down and even received comments about using less kajal to appear more inviting.

Jocke wants to be a better parent to his own children

When Renée later in the day have some alone time with Jock they continue to talk about social interactions. Jocke is not very comfortable with strong eye contact so Renée arranged a chore for him while they talk, matching socks. She also asks him to take off the sunglasses he’s been wearing all day. They then proceed to talk about Jock’s past.

He tells us that he did not have the best upbringing as his mother was an addict. He had night terrors until a late age when his mother showed him inappropriate scary movies and for a time his mental development was halted.

Fortunately, Jocke was eventually helped by other adults in his life, such as his parents. After much inner healing, he is also no longer angry with his mother. And in order not to make similar mistakes, he now makes sure to have an open and close relationship with his own children, who are his great joy in life today.
