Joachim Standfest: From Champion Player to Successful Coach – Learn About His Journey in Austrian Football

2023-12-09 23:10:00

He is the only Styrian player to win championship titles in the top Austrian league with both GAK (2003/04) and SK Sturm (2010/11). He played 34 times for the ÖFB team and scored two goals. As an active player, Joachim Standfest was always one of the fittest players, a running machine and, until 2017, always guaranteed performance at all the clubs he worked for. He is currently the coach of SCR Altach and today (5 p.m., Sky live) is a Alex Reed of Sturm in the Merkur Arena. Altach is his third coaching position following Sturm Amateuren (2017) and Amstetten (2020/21). The managerial role was interrupted by activities as assistant coach at Sturm under coach Heiko Vogel (2018/19) and at Admira (2019/20) under Klaus Schmidt. At Altach he inherited Schmidt as boss this season and is in tenth place in the table with the Vorarlberg team following 16 rounds. Not a bad interim result for a team that has been completely rebuilt. Sports director Roland Kirchler and Standfest brought 13 new players to Altach.
