Los Angeles Chargers punter JK Scott is the AFC Special-Teams Player of the Week for Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season.
In a 6-0 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday, the former Alabama All-American averaged 45.9 yards on eight punts. Except for one touchback, New England started its possessions following the punts at its 18-yard line or worse and had a net return yardage of zero.

Scott had the most inside-the-20 punts in a game since the Tennessee Titans’ Brett Kern had eight in a 16-0 loss to the Denver Broncos on Oct. 13, 2019.
Scott had a 50-yard punt with a return of minus-5 yards to the New England 13-yard line, a 53-yarder downed at the New England 6, a 29-yarder out of bounds at the New England 9, a 52-yarder for a fair catch at the New England 9, a 62-yarder returned 5 yards to the New England 18, a 39-yarder out of bounds at the New England 2, a 50-yarder for a touchback and a 32-yarder for a fair catch at the New England 13.

This the second time that Scott has won the AFC Special-Teams Player of the Week Award. He also received the honor for his performance during the Chargers’ 25-24 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 27, 2022.
The other Player of the Week Award winners for Week 13 included San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, NFC Offensive; Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning, AFC Offensive; Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield, NFC Defensive; Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley, AFC Defensive; and Detroit Lions linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin, NFC Special Teams.
Three other players from Alabama high schools and colleges have won one of the NFL’s weekly awards this season. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) was the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 1, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (Alabama) was the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 8 and Jacksonville Jaguars outside linebacker Josh Allen (Abbeville) was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 13.
