J.K. Rowling criticized a group of trans activists who boycotted a feminist event in the city of Manchester, in the United Kingdom. A group of hooded people prevented a group of feminists from holding the event.

The group had already made known its intentions to cover with ribbons and prevent access to the statue of suffragist Emmeline Pankhurst, dressed as ninjas and arguing that this would not be a playful, intentional own goal once morest her cause, at which a talk on women’s rights would be held,

JK Rowling, author of the book series “Harry Potter“, who is considered transphobic for the comments she has made on her official Twitter accountcriticized the group of hooded people and cited the activists’ message.

The altercation occurred in St. Peter’s Square, where trans activists prevented a talk regarding women’s rights from being held in front of the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst, one of the main figures of the suffrage movement. They even pushed and physically assaulted women.

The event had been called by the Standing For Women organization to “reclaim” a space for female voices in the city.

JK Rowling tweeted, to accompany the video of the moment of the attack: “I never expected that the right side of history would include so many people in masks bullying and assaulting women, right?”

Rowling has harshly criticized legislation that allows a person to legally change their gender without undergoing reassignment surgery or hormone therapy.
