Cardenales de Lara announced the signing of Jimmy Endersby, who will come for the first time to the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) to live his first experience in the Caribbean.
Oscar Cumare Sanchez, head of press for the Birds, reported that the right-handed pitcher has four seasons of experience in the Major League Baseball (MLB) farm system, with the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs.
“He is a pitcher who comes with the desire to join the league, he has a good repertoire, he can be a starter, which supports us more in that area. Part of the same thing that we have managed from the beginning, giving more depth to the pitching, which is where we felt we had to reinforce,” said Carlos Miguel Oropeza, general manager of the Larenses, in a press release.
Experience
This season, Endersby was with Chicago’s Double-A affiliate. There he participated in 12 games, starting eight of them. He accumulated 40.2 innings, struck out 35 opponents, had an ERA of 4.43 and a WHIP of 1.11.
“Even though he can be a starter and a reliever, I think he can help us a lot as a starter. He is a pitcher who last year was in Triple A with Houston and this year he remained in Double A with Chicago. He has good speeds,” said José Yépez, another representative of the LVBP high command. “We are very happy with his incorporation, anxious for everything to begin to see the results,” added the sports manager of the red birds.
With the Anaheim, California, native, the Cardinals reach four confirmed imports, along with first baseman Rangel Ravelo, as well as pitchers Keyvius Sampson and Geoff Broussard.
