Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — America’s first lady, Jill Biden, visited Al-Azhar Mosque, Friday, during her two-day visit to Egypt.
“By understanding each other’s religions, I believe we can find common ground and unite our desire for truth, love, justice, and healing,” Jill Biden said on Twitter. “Thank you, Al-Azhar Mosque, for hosting me.”
For his part, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif said, on Facebook, that “The President of Al-Azhar University, Dr. Salama Daoud, accompanied the American first lady, on a tour inside Al-Azhar Mosque.”
In a previous tweet, America’s first lady said: “Thank you for the warm welcome to Egypt, “Mother of the World”… Mrs. Intisar Amer (wife of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi).
Earlier on Friday, Intisar Al-Sisi welcomed the Biden generation with its arrival in Egypt.
Intisar Al-Sisi published pictures of her reception of Jill Biden on Facebook, commenting: “Ms. Jill Biden, the first American lady, is a dear Alex Reed of Egypt, and as I welcome her to her second country, Egypt, I look forward to the visit being a new step towards strengthening the Egyptian-American friendship.” And I wish her the best of times in Umm Al-Dunya.”
Likewise, the Egyptian presidency said, in a statement via Facebook, that “Al-Sisi and his wife received the first lady of America.”
Jill Biden attended the wedding of the Crown Prince of Jordan, Thursday, in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and the Egyptian president’s wife and daughter were also among those attending the wedding.
