If the modifier ‘consistent’ is attached, that is a compliment. Because it means that there is no change from beginning to end. However, being ‘beside each other’ is not always a good thing. This is the story of actress Song Hye-kyo.

According to Nielsen Korea, an audience rating research company on the 9th, the final episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Now, We’re Breaking Up (herefollowing Jihejung)’, which ended on the 8th, recorded a rating of 6.7%.

The first broadcast of ‘Jihejung’ on November 12 last year marked a fresh start with a rating of 6.4%. However, it did not cross the 10% barrier. The ratings rose only slightly following the end of the competing MBC Friday-Saturday drama ‘Red End of the Sleeve’.

‘Jihejung’ drew attention even before the broadcast in that it was Song Hye-kyo’s first appearance in two years following ‘boyfriend’. Because Song Hye-kyo’s name value and the melodic genre were added. ‘Jihejung’, which took off the veil, was sluggish in topicality and ratings as time passed.

In the meantime, SBS Friday-Saturday dramas, starting with ‘The Fiery Priest’, ‘Penthouse’ series, ‘Model Taxi’, and ‘One the Woman’, have captured the attention and ratings at the same time. On the other hand, ‘Jihejung’ did not enjoy prime time specials, and did not make a clear impression on viewers.

Song Hye-kyo takes on the role of Ha Young-eun, the design team leader of a fashion company in the play. He expressed romance as well as the subjective female protagonist character. There was no difference in expressing Ha Young-eun from the other characters he acted in other works. That character is this character, and this character is that character. That is to say, she showed off her acting skills.

A lot of talk regarding her acting skills has flowed out to Song Hye-kyo, regardless of her comeback work. I always chose the same character, chose stability, and the acting was stagnant. It’s only natural to show that you’re good at what you’re good at. Song Hye-kyo is 27 years old since her debut. The fact that the acting skills he has accumulated over the years are consistent also means that he has stopped in the same place without any development.

Of course, the script for ‘Jihejung’ was also criticized as being outdated. Predictable and obvious stories such as a man and a woman who spent a hot night without knowing each other’s names, a story regarding the pain of a love in the past, and the relationship between an ex-boyfriend and a current boyfriend were the main ones. Also, the lack of plausibility cannot be overlooked. Among them, Song Hye-kyo, Choi Hee-seo, and Park Hyo-joo showed interest in the romance of three people and the sub couple Park Hyo-joo and Yoon Na-mu.

‘Jihe-jung’ left the show so shabby that Song Hye-kyo’s name was insignificant. Song Hye-kyo, who showed a consistent melodramatic performance. Then, he confirmed his appearance in Kim Eun-sook’s new work, ‘The Glory’. In ‘The Glory’, the protagonist, who dropped out of high school due to brutal school violence, gave up his dream of becoming an architect and assaulted him, waiting for the initiator to marry and give birth, and for the child to enter school, and then start taking revenge following being appointed as the child’s homeroom teacher. It is a sad revenge drama.

Song Hye-kyo challenges a genre other than melodrama through ‘The Glory’. Since he has been playing the same character in the meantime, attention is focused on how the character he takes on new challenges will be expressed. In addition, expectations are also high for Song Hye-kyo, who met with director Ahn Gil-ho, a master of the genre and the script of writer Kim Eun-sook, a master of romance.
