At the beginning of the summer, the Razr 50 Ultra was offered in stores for CZK 29,999. The cheaper Razr 50 variant cost CZK 22,499 at the time.

However, the prices are currently according to Zboží.cz far more favorable. Specifically, the Razr 50 Ultra can be purchased starting at CZK 26,081, i.e. almost four thousand crowns cheaper. Razr 50 price tags then start at 17,962 CZK, which even represents a discount of more than 4.5 thousand crowns.

What do you get for this price?

Folding smartphones for the fifth time. Samsung has improved both Flip and Fold

They take up less space in your pocket

Both novelties use a foldable design so that they don’t take up much space in your pocket. Basically, they have the dimensions of a classic smartphone, but you can fold it in half.

Considering how displays get bigger every year, this solution is very practical. You no longer have to bother with the corner of your phone sticking out of your pocket, with which you bump into various obstacles several times a day. Novelties from Motorola fit easily even in really small pockets.

The main flexible display offers a diagonal of 6.9 inches. The size of the outdoor screen varies depending on which model you choose. The basic Razr 50 has a 3.6-inch display on the outside. The design of the Razr 50 Ultra even boasts a four-inch diagonal, which is the highest value in the given category across the entire market.

Thanks to the larger display, users don’t have to open the phone as often. The vast majority of actions are performed on an outdoor screen.

Vegan leather and durability

The back cover is also worth paying attention to – as we are used to with Motorola phones, it is an interesting design piece.

The novelties are characterized by bold colors, a soft surface made of vegan leather and shaped edges. In the case of the Razr 50 Ultra, users can choose between Midnight Blue, Spring Green and Peach Fuzz colors. Plus, the iconic Hot Pink Razr color returns.

The new Motorola Razr 50 model has Beach Sand, Koala Gray and Spritz Orange color shades of vegan leather on the front and back of the device.

But don’t let the good looks fool you. Both phones are quite durable, they can withstand immersion to a depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. The simplified hinge offers better protection against dust, and the durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protects the outdoor screen from scratches and breakage.

First time with AI

In addition, thanks to the news, fans of the Razr series will get access to artificial intelligence for the first time, through the Gemini application from Google – directly from the external display, of course. Simply press and hold the power button to bring up the Gemini app to help you create a trip itinerary with your favorite sights and activities, create a personalized training program in seconds, get recipes based on what’s in your fridge, and more.

When writing messages to friends, new AI functions can be used to enrich the conversation. These include Magic Compose, which suggests text responses in different styles so users can express themselves in new, creative ways, and the Photomoji feature. It allows owners to turn their favorite photos into personalized emojis or stickers.

The novelties also have a good dose of performance. The Razr 50 Ultra is one of the first flip phones in the world with the powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 mobile platform. The cheaper Razr 50 is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor. The battery in this model has a capacity of 4200 mAh, in the more powerful Ultra version it is 4000 mAh.

Great cameras

A double camera is hidden in the display opening on the outside – it combines the main sensor with a telephoto lens, both of which have a resolution of 50 MPx. Thanks to the high resolution of the telephoto lens, users can take advantage of 2x optical zoom without losing quality.

By the way, the cameras will also offer a whole range of advanced AI functions that take care of the best possible result when taking pictures. For example, the photo enhancement engine uses AI to fine-tune the image for optimal detail, brightness, exposure, shadows, color and bokeh effects based on the scene.

We have been making calls from mobile phones for 50 years. What does the future hold for them?

Mobil

Well, well, well! It seems that Motorola has decided that folding phones are the future. It’s like the mobile industry’s answer to origami, ensuring that we can look even clumsier as we fumble to unfold our devices while attempting to impress someone at the bar. "Oh no, nothing to see here, just me struggling with my high-tech foldy-phone!" But hold on a second; let’s dive into the Razr 50 Ultra and Razr 50 and see what all the fuss—and the discounts—is about.

So initially, when summer rolled in, the Razr 50 Ultra was strutting its stuff at a jaw-dropping CZK 29,999—more than what you’d spend on a decent holiday! Meanwhile, the standard Razr 50 was playing the role of the budget-friendly option at CZK 22,499. But fear not, dear readers! The prices have dropped faster than my motivation to hit the gym after the New Year! You can now snag a Razr 50 Ultra for just CZK 26,081—that’s almost four grand off! Sure, that still sounds like a hefty mortgage on a tiny home, but what are you really paying for, right? It’s like your wallet went to a summer sale and got a little high, buying stuff it doesn’t need.

Now, let’s talk about these sleek designs. They’re practically begging for a spot in your pocket, and I must say, it’s rather clever of Motorola! With these devices being foldable, you can finally ditch the days of having your phone stick out like a sore thumb! You know you’ve been there—a corner of your phone sneaking out like it’s auditioning for a high-stakes game of peekaboo. “Surprise! It’s your flaky old phone!” Now, it’s all about compactness—perfect for what? Getting lost in the bottom of your handbag?

And speaking of bags, the outdoor screens are sporty! The Ultra has a glorious four-inch display on the outside. Compare that to the first attempts at folding phones where the outside screen was basically a postage stamp. Seriously, it’s about as useful as trying to read text messages through a keyhole. But not anymore! The larger display means you won’t have to pry it open every time you want to post a selfie. “Look at me—enjoying my fourth cup of coffee today!”

Now, they didn’t forget about aesthetics either. Vegan leather! Because why should only your brunch options be sustainable and trendy? No more guilt when you get that gorgeous midnight blue or peach fuzz finish. Just make sure not to get it too sweaty from all the “cool” you’re exuding while showing it off. Just like our dear friend Lee Evans would say, “If a phone is gonna make me look good, I’ll take it!”

Now here’s a fun fact to chew on: for the first time ever, both models will incorporate…(drum roll)…AI! Yup, thanks to Google’s Gemini app, you’ll have your very own assistant built right into your folding phone. “Hey AI, plan my vacation!” Which sounds brilliant until you realize you’ve just handed AI the keys to your life decisions. I mean, it’s not like I can trust it not to suggest going to a “pleasure” resort while my mates hit the hiking trails!

As for the camera capabilities, we’ve got a double-camera with a 50 MP main sensor and telephoto lens. Taking selfies will literally be elevated—because you know, we all need those high-resolution shots to show off our version of reality. With all those AI fine-tunings, you’ll get image optimization based on everything from focus to shadow and, let’s be honest, will likely make everyone look ten times better than normal! “Is that really how I look? No, that’s how my Razr thinks I should look!”

So, as we flirt with the idea of evaluating our future mobile phone capabilities, will we embrace foldable technology, or will it remain merely a flashy gimmick? Only time will tell! But for now, Motorola seems to have hit a sweet spot between functionality and style—while reminding us that our wallets have feelings too.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to ponder why my phone doesn’t drop a few pounds while folding neatly into my pocket! Cheers!
