Ji Eun-hee, 75, former Minister of Gender Equality, will lead the board of directors of Seoul National University until January next year.
Seoul National University announced on the 5th that former Minister Ji will succeed Jeon Su-an (former Supreme Court Justice) as the chairman during his tenure as the director. Ji was re-elected as a director of Seoul National University in January 2021. The term of office for Seoul National University directors is two years. Oh Se-jeong, president of Seoul National University, is also an ex officio director.
After graduating from Ewha Womans University, Chairman Ji is considered to be a representative figure in the women’s world, such as serving as a co-representative of the Korean Federation of Women’s Organizations. From 2003 to 2005 she served as the Minister of Gender Equality during the Roh Moo-hyun government and from 2006 to 2013 she served as the President of Duksung Women’s University. She has since served as the President of the Justice Remembrance Solidarity, where she currently serves as the Director of the ASEM Center for Human Rights Policy for the Elderly. She said, “I will do my best to become a Seoul National University that meets the expectations of both external and internal members,” she said.
